Sri Lanka’s Cabinet of Ministers have approved to build an airport terminal building, and to renovate the runway, taxiway and apron, in 2015 for development of the Batticaloa Airport for commencement of commercial passenger services, according to the government’s policy of improving civil aviation facilities in Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, the government has decided to approve the proposal made by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation,Nimal Siripala de Silva to assign the remaining 20% of the work to Civil Aviation Authority with 80% of its work already being completed.
